Trash Flies to Los Angeles for the 2025 BAFTA Student Awards

Our film Trash was selected for the prestigious BAFTA Student Awards ceremony, a major annual event that celebrates emerging talents in the global film industry. This selection is a true milestone for our project, but above all, a tremendous source of pride for the entire team after many months of hard work and passion.

The competition, held in Los Angeles, brought together a remarkable selection of student works, spread across five main categories: animated short, live action, video game, documentary, and immersive content. The artistic and narrative quality of the projects presented was outstanding, which made our presence among the finalists all the more meaningful.

Two of the film’s directors, Fanny Vecchie and Alexis Le Ral, had the unique opportunity to travel there to take part in a week of meetings, exchanges, and discoveries, brilliantly organized by the BAFTA North America team.

An Exceptional Week Orchestrated by BAFTA

The program organized by the BAFTA lived up to the event’s reputation: a visit to Walt Disney Studios, a talk at Universal Studios, meetings with professionals at Company 3, and even a private screening at the Fox Studios. Every activity was designed to foster dialogue between young creators and key industry players, in an atmosphere that was both inspiring and welcoming.

Alongside these professional highlights, we also had the chance to explore Los Angeles at our own pace. We strolled through the luxurious streets of Beverly Hills, took in the breathtaking view from the Griffith Observatory, and walked along the legendary Hollywood Boulevard — a place full of history and symbolism for any cinema enthusiast. These moments added an even deeper dimension to an already unforgettable experience.

An Unforgettable Recognition

Before the close of the festival, a formal awards ceremony was held in a luxurious hotel in Beverly Hills. It was in this rather surreal setting that we had the immense privilege of stepping on stage to receive the BAFTA for Best Animated Short Film of the 2025 edition.

Receiving this award, surrounded by film professionals from around the world, was an incredible recognition for our film — a moment of deep emotional intensity for the entire team. This international award crowns our project, and above all, a year and a half of relentless effort. We are deeply grateful to everyone who was present throughout this week, which was as extraordinary as it was unforgettable.
